URL: gc.palomar.edu/32950/32950alincoln0761/Unit11.htmlI took from the Union Tribune for this week's assignment. I used Nimbus Page Capture to take a screenshot of the entire page. I don't have Photoshop on hand so I tried out GIMP to divide the image into sections using rectangles. I colored each section of this page (with some transparency) from top to bottom with different colors to demonstrate each individual part of the page, making notes (quick observations) along the way. I noticed this page was unusually long due to littering of ads in between the main articles. I included nested elements within the main articles to add more details to the content section. There a quite a few details missing that I didn't include as it was already a fairly large page, so I wanted to summarize as much as possible. Once this was done, I finally had an idea of the page structure. I'm not too familiar with GIMP, so I didn't try the next step which required exporting the image to construct the HTML (however I do know now how to approach that for the next assignment with the use of PS). Overall, I feel like I'm beginning to understand the design process a bit more

You're right. This is a complex page. For the most part, you are on the right track dividing it up. In order to get it to behave, I think you would have to put the Gallery, video and news sections all together in one div, and then divide it into columns. Then, the Sports, Business and Entertainment should all go together in another section.
I'm glad that you found this exercise helpful.
