You have a really good handle on the page structure. I think that looks great.
As long as you are doing a fluid width, I would not put the max-width of 90%. I think that if you are aiming for desktop down to mobile screens, the best idea is to put the max-width as a pixel dimension. Then, on large desktops, it won't get rediculously wide, and it will maximize the screen for mobiles.
To jazz up the design a bit, I would experiment with different fonts - especially for the logo. The logo also needs to be in a bolder color, and the page content in a weaker one. You want the logo to stand out. The page content can be in a gray so that it's just not quite do bold.
With the 3 sections, it might look good to surround each with a box - maybe a curved corner box. That will make them look more finished and styled.
Just some ideas that I had.
